Summer’s on

A short post to share a brilliant shot of a Grasshopper Sparrow taken by Jerry Talkington in Jefferson County last week. Now is the time to get out to your regional parks to record breeding birds. There are pockets of grassland birds even in suburban regions. Check large, empty overgrown lots for grassland sparrows and scrub species. Our local airports are a great place to start! Your data is invaluable for breeding bird surveys. The summer doldrums do not have to be droll- get out there and record local and regional residents!
