County year lists

In the mood for your own “big year” of birding but nowhere close to spending thousands on nationwide travel? Join dozens to hundreds of birders across the states who are tracking their birding progress in a county-level big year, from January 1st through December 31st. The rewards are great: bird locally and save on expenditures, significantly drop the amount of fuel you would consume criss-crossing the state for rarities, renew your sense of appreciation for even the common birds as you excitedly seek them within your county, discover new hotspots and areas closer to him, get familiar with your immediate area, and contribute your sightings to ebird! Birding locally typically equals birding with more regularity. Keep a list of how many species you see within your county of choice… You may be quite surprised.

Last year, I did a Cuyahoga county big year and was ecstatic to see 240 species!

Good luck, and go get ’em
