NNW and scoters

The current forecast for Friday the 23rd is excellent for lake and harbor-watching: NNW winds at 15-20 mph and morning precipitation. The highest concentrations of gulls and waterfowl have been on the central/west side of Cleveland: Huron and Lorain Harbors, Avon Lake Powerplant, and Wendy Park. No reports of the Black-tailed Gull in several days, but coverage has been extremely low and intermittent. Nancy Anderson reports over a dozen scoters off of Sim’s Park in Euclid, including several Black and Surf and possibly White-winged. An immature Pomarine Jaeger has been hanging around Wendy Park for at least a week now, performing incredible aerial dog-fights near shore and within the harbor.

A mild week is ahead.
