Lakefront update

Ashtabula Harbor: The Black-tailed Gull WAS observed today in the morning, sitting on top of the blue industrial buildings visible well from point B (Lake Shore Park). At least one Snowy Owl continues on the railroad/industrial grounds visible from point C, looking north. (Talkington and Wagner).

Euclid/Sim’s Park: Upwards of 16 scoters including mostly Black and Surf with some White-wingeds continue offshore Sim’s Park (see photos below by Chuck Slusarczyk). Chuck photographed a Pomarine Jaeger just offshore Euclid Beach today, as well.

Lorain: Upwards of 15,000 Bonaparte’s have been frequenting Lorain Harbor (Bacik) and Gabe Leidy found a possible Slaty-backed Gull yesterday south of the lift bridge.

Cleveland: Jam-packed with mergansers. Wendy Park is still hosting upwards of 5,000 Bonaparte’s. Aaron Milenski reports four Short-eared Owls from Burke Lakefront Airport.

Across the lake, loons and grebes are still staging in good numbers and mergansers are building in massive flocks.
