Strong WSW are hitting the lakefront this evening (9 pm), and are forecasted to hold through tomorrow between 15 to 30 mph with strong gusts. While north-based winds are the most ideal for waterbird movements, the winds look to be holding strong mainly from the west, which could mean an excellent day for lake watching tomorrow. The height of waterbird movement occurs between dawn and 11 am, with the biggest push of birds between 9 and 10 am. Choose sites that sit high on bluffs and bring your spotting scope. Top lake watching sites are listed above. If the winds hold through tomorrow, loons, grebes, waterfowl, and gulls could make a big push.
