…southwest winds. Earlier this week, tomorrow (Thurs) looked fantastic for a waterbird movement, with WNW winds at 22mph. Now, southwest winds are dominating, through the rest of the week and weekend. C’mon Fall, it’s not Spring: let’s see some NNW winds.
Waterbird movements will be very light. Small groups of scaup, Ruddy Ducks, geese, and some scoters should be on the move. The first Horned Grebes and Common Loons should be showing up in low numbers. Bonaparte’s Gulls could be around in decent numbers. Friday’s WSW at 20+ could still produce a waterbird movement (including jaegers and gulls) even though the winds are south-based.
